The Maudlin Sun

LGBT / Poetry / White

This is a poem I wrote on the LGBT community in India.

Here is an ode to the stars that have brought me,
Closer to life than I would have on my own.
Here’s an ode to the people who’ve thought me,
Everything they part as right from wrong.
My life today, is as they see it,
A blank from start to end.
For if I look inside myself,
I’ll only find fear and doubt and hate.
Brought about by the blinding sun,
That society’s pandering eye will shun.
And once again darkness fills that void,
I will now and forever call my voice.
But inside me there is a pearl of hope
That maybe one day they will revoke,
Those ideals they hold so dear,
The same ones that have brought me to tears.
That then we’ll live in a world of Peace;
Truth, Love and Ecstasy;
That maybe then they’ll finally see,
That we’re no less human than they’ll ever be.
That maybe then we can stop the hurt,
The pain, the fear, the bloody tears.
All I live on now is a hope,
That maybe someday they will revoke…
