Fragments of loss

“Have you ever been hurt?” She asked me.
“No, not in particular. Don’t you know; I have no heart.”
…Silence. Frozen the air remained, till she began again…
“You know that you don’t have to be so recluse and alone, the world is a comforting place. There’s a lot of joy and happiness in the little things.”
I didn’t raise my head. Bent and broken I asked, “Really, Like what?”
A smile crept upon her face, “Like the feeling of the sun against your skin. The sound of the birds singing, the little things.”
… A sinking feeling suddenly came upon me. I was alone. It reigned hard in my mind…
“The little things, you say?”
She looked surprised, as though she expected me to know what she spoke of…
“Yes, the little things. The world is full of it.”
“I wouldn’t know anything of it. You were my world. My entire world. And now, that’s no more.”
… She stared at me, and I, her. Silence ensued once more. Oblivion was inevitable…

  1. Hello Sharran. This is super neat.
PS I’ll just have to halt my initial plan of stalking your blog/ brutally mock you for now.
