I want to go back home–
The home within my body;
Where on a shell
of coral blue;
Lies another young boy’s body.

A boy I left behind, when
at the crossroads, I had spent
the very last of my innocence;
in return for celestial assent–
From a man I’ve never met,
To whom I am to sing to;
Hymns of glorious praise,
and to whom I give my lent to.

A man “no more or less” than me,
A man “no more or less” than thee
Then why, pray tell,
does he not feel this aching in my heart.
Then why, pray tell,
does he not fell, this tree of disregard–
And purge all things that he does not see,
As pleasing to his own.
And heal me once, for all of time,
And rid me of the unknown.

I’ll tell you why,
in tasteless tongue,
the reason for this plight–
I am God,
I am me,
I am the one that I’ve been praying to; see,
The God I need, and want, and call to;
I paint with the colours of my angry eye;
so that in my time of desperation,
I will know the one to blame;
The God above, the God within,
The God that must be insane.
