Medicating Sadness

Sadness feeds off shrivelled souls,
empty hearts, like broken bowls;
spilling truth and mixing pain–
standing naked in the pouring rain.

With no pills to heal,
no healing to touch,
no means or hand to form a crutch,
to heal– this cold and fragile heart.

The times we live in are such that we as a people feel more alone, although surrounded by thousands upon thousands of virtual friends and acquaintances. This epidemic of loneliness amongst our youth, is because of the fact, that with the increase in the number of people that we interact with on a daily basis, there is a greater  need that we feel to “fit in” to a mould that our peers present us with.

These moulds, however, present to you one person’s ideal of something. It does not represent you, or what, how, or when you should be yourself.

Everyday, people get lost in trying to become someone else, not recognising the importance of being unique in a fast changing world, that churns out a new fad one minute, and trashes it the next, leaving people who follow suit in a limbo of self-hatred, and crowd-sourced self-worth.

There is nothing more satisfying than being yourself against all odds.
Allow the world to enjoy the true, authentic you, even if that person does not match the ridiculous standards currently set in society.

Be unapologetic. Be enigmatic. Be you.
